You would think that Easter weekend at Lake Sherwood would be warm and breezy - for April. But, that was not the case. We had very high winds on the way up Friday evening. In fact, BJ went from 28 1/2 average MPG to about 22.1 - just with trying to fight the wind.
Saturday morning we woke up to snow. Sunday there was a sheet of ice on the lake. Back to winter.
But, we also had lots of wild life to see as well. Friday night as we watched, a group of 8 deer wandered down to the lake to get drinks of water. One of the deer must have been just a kid, as he had a grand time hopping and spinning around. I am sure his Mom must have (in deer talk) told him numerous times to cool it.
Saturday night, just as we had turned off the lights and gone to bed, we heard a loud racket coming from the deck outside. Phil jumped out of bed, turned on the light, and saw 2 gray foxes had treed a cat. He called to me and I got up, but missed the gray foxes. He was pretty sure they were foxes, as he said they had gray bushy tails, pointy faces, pointy ears, and sharp pointy teeth. I saw the cat in the tree, which took off like a flash once the foxes had left. Cash, our killer dog, just rolled over in bed during all this racket, pretty much disgusted that we had interrupted his beauty sleep. Good thing we do not count on him to protect us!
Sunday we drove down to Madison and had dinner with Mom and Nell at Monona Gardens. Then back to Illinois.
We are currently reading (listening) to Judge and Jury by James Patterson. We like to listen to books on CD during our travel, and that really passes the time. So far we had read all of Harry Potter, and are working our way through all the James Patterson books as well.
