Becker Bay - August 2008

Mike, Stacy and Emma came to Becker Bay for vacation. We had lots of fun as you will see from out photos!

Saturday, August 16
The crew arrived at about 12:30p at the Madison airport. We picked up luggage and then headed to a Culvers to meet up with Grandma Becker and Nell for a quick lunch. Then off to the cottage for some quick boating, dinner at Norb and Karyl's and the fireworks at 9p (Lake Camelot frolics). Other than one minor confrontation between Emma and Orville (N & K's dog), the day was perfect!

Sunday, August 17
Emma and I started the day by frosting the cake we make with PINK frosting. It must be pink, pink, pink!! We had great day with the Becker crew from Madison coming up for the day - Grandma Becker, Nell, Todd, Tim, Tedd and Heather shared their day with us to make it a great family gathering. We wish Andy could have been there with us to enjoy as well. We did some boating, bocci ball, bean bag toss, and lots of eating and visiting. All in all, a great day!

Monday, August 18
Monday was project day - the kids had to make and decorate a stepping stone for our garden. Guess what color Emma's decorations were - PINK!. Then out to the boat for some sun and fun. Having lunch on the boat was a big hit, as was the fearless way she decided to jump in the water! Of course any time she was near the water she had on her life vest. Whether playing with her sand toys, tossing sticks in the water, boating, swimming, or whatever, she was good about adhering to those rules. Dinner found us motoring over to the lodge, and then a short cruise before bedtime.
Can you say "Dreds?"

Mike took the time to tune the "travel" guitar that Phil had gotten - unfortunately he broke it and had to call Andy and tell him the sad news. I guess we will have to get a more durable guitar to keep up there.

Tuesday, August 19
The day included more boating and tubing. Mike got on the tube and we towed him behind the boat. Emma wanted to try, so we put her in, Mike held her with a death grip, and off we went. She thought it was great fun and was "bouncing just like Tigger!". She was so hyped up, she had to do more jumping off the boat to Mike and Phil. They both had on their life vests as well, and watched her like a hawk, but she did a great job jumping (What kind of jump was that called?") and swimming back to the boat. We just had to keep reminding her to close her mouth as she went into the water - a little tough to do when you are screaming for joy!

Wednesday, August 20
We had to leave bright and early on Wednesday so we could get down to Madison and lunch with Grandma Becker before they had to catch their flight. Then off to the airport and back to Dallas. Emma told both Pappy and I that she would miss us. How sweet is that!! We will miss them all too.

So no one forgets, this is what being a grandparent is all about!! What a kid!!
